Matching of strings & texts

Hi Friends

I am using excel 2003 and have a task of matching and grouping similar texts. Eg: in cell A1 = ABC Corp Ltd, A2 = ABC Corp, A3 = ABC Corporation Ltd Inc etc . I need to group them in to one say like ABC ... i use exact formula , left formula and it helps to some extent , but would there be any solutions or formula to optimise the cases to match to the maximum , atleast reduce the number to cells to go through manually

Hi and welcome to the forum

i would suggest you upload a sample work book, (all sensitive data removed), showing what data you are working with, a few examples of what your expected outcome is, and how you arrived at that
To attach a file to your post,
click advanced (next to quick post),
scroll down until you see "manage file",
click that and select "add files" (top right corner).
click "select files" find your file, click "open" click "upload" click 'done" bottom right. click "submit reply"

Once the upload is completed the file name will appear below the input boxes in this window.
You can then close the window to return to the new post screen.

Thanks for your time . I have attached a sample file in which i have input data in a few lines. which would give you a better idea of what is my requirement. would be very helpful if you could give me some tips
