Formula to fill a cell based on drop down list in previous cell

    Hey all,

Hoping for a quick fix to this one.

A1 contains a drop-down list restriction and I need B1 to automatically provide a score based on the choice made in A1.

The options in the drop down list (on another sheet) are broken into three groups, so if a selection is made the result will either be 1, 2 or 3.

What formula can I used to autopopulate B1 with the score (listed in the secondary sheet next to the choice)??

    Thanks in advance
    FF

Use vlookup or Index & match combination to get the data. If possible attach a sample workbook with expected outcome for giving exact solution

    Attached is the example

If the user selects "Brazil" B1 should say "1", Mexico "2", etc.

    Thanks

Thanks a lot! Works a treat. No idea what it means or how to decipher it, but it does the job perfectly.

    Very much appreciated.

    Cheers
