    Hi

Can some help me on attached spreadsheet. I'm trying to show spend against each area ( 4 in total). I'm basic user in Excel and I have no idea how to use correct formula.

On left cells in spreadsheet I have 4 areas with post codes. In the middle I've got a post codes where we spend a money. I need to match that figures. Can someone help ?

Re: Matching post codes to areas

It's hard to explain. If you look into my spreadsheet you will see first 4 columns with areas. Columns in the middle are the post codes which I'm trying to match to areas and show spend in each of them. For example if I type post codes in column G it will match what area it is and provide spend in column either column L,M,N,O ( depand what area will match). Is there any formula or do I need to change all layout ?

In summary I need to show how much money we are spending as company in which area. In column G post codes are match with our suppliers.

    Is that more clear now?

Re: Matching post codes to areas

    Hi,

None of the postal codes in Col G match any of the code in Col A through Col D. Did you know that? Are you giving us the entire table of postal codes? Do we need to use a partial code in Col G?
One test is worth a thousand opinions.

Yes, you should only use part code and than they should match. Purpose of this spreadsheet is to show our spending with a local suppliers.Post codes from column A,B,C and D are complete. If non of the post code in column G not matching should not be counted. On columns L,M,N,O I'm trying to get a formula which will automatically check post code from columd G and if true put in correct column with amount money spend againt it.

For example if one of the post codes in column G will be DE7 0 than formula will automatically put this into column M ( as this is area 2 ) but instead of putting post code it will show amount spend.

    Hope this explain more.
