Need a formulae that will check x against y and input z!!

Ok, heres the crack. I've been doing a F1 fantasy league with my friends, but noticed after this weekends race, the point tally didnt look right. So decided to make my own excel sheet and keep a check on the points as it should be.

This is the problem i'm facing. Rather than manually add points for 22 drivers, 11 teams and 11 engines (thats how it is on the site we use) I want to just change a few variables that will automatically calculate into points.

In columns Q,R,S,T are the qualification references, Position, Driver Points, Constructor Points and Engine Points. Columns V,W,X,Y are the race results in the same Order

Columns A-N and rows 2-23 are the drivers and their columns are headed as follows:-

Name, Qualifying, Qualifying Points, Race, Race Points, Position +/-, Finish(2 columns, 1st value, 2nd formula), Beat Team Mate (2 as Finish), Flying Lap (again 2 cloumns) and Weekend Total.

Constructor is rows 26-36 and have the following columns assigned:- Driver 1 Qual, Driver 2 Qual, Qual Total, Driver 1 Race, Driver 2 Race, Race Total, Weekend Total.

Engine is same as constructor just on rows 39-49.

So far everything is fine apart from my points forumla. The bonus points (Position change, beating team mate, fastest lap etc) work fine.
But what I'm trying to do is say I input 1st into Vettels qualifying cell (B2 for example) I want it to check B2 against the position in column Q and show me the adjacent cell in column R as the result in column C.

so basically if B2 is equal to a cell in column Q then C2 will be equal to the cell in column r on the same row as the inital search in column q. this would be the case for all the position points for driver, constructor and engine.

Hope it makes sense what I'm trying to do haha.

As an update, found a temporary solution, but its a very long winded formula and involves a new IF if the value is false. Hoping someone can find me a shorter and easier option!

Hi and welcome to the forum

i would suggest you upload a sample work book, (all sensitive data removed), showing what data you are working with, a few examples of what your expected outcome is, and how you arrived at that
To attach a file to your post,
click advanced (next to quick post),
scroll down until you see "manage file",
click that and select "add files" (top right corner).
click "select files" find your file, click "open" click "upload" click 'done" bottom right. click "submit reply"

Once the upload is completed the file name will appear below the input boxes in this window.
You can then close the window to return to the new post screen.
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)
2. If your question is resolved, mark it SOLVED using the thread tools
3. Click on the star if you think someone helped you

Regards
