In my spreadsheet I have thousands of financial records. Using the SUMPRODUCT function, I analyse those records. Unfortunately, using this method, it takes about 2 hours to calculate!

I've read you can use Base to store your data and then use the spreadsheet to make calculations from that data. Is that possible? If so, how?
"databases are considered a step up from spreadsheets for simply storing data. Like the names suggest, it might be a good practice to store all you initial data in a database, then use calc to calculate any other values from that database. For example, say you took five tests, and got the following scores:
50%, 60%, 65%, 99% and 23%. Say you want to calculate your average test score. You would store these percents in a database, then use a calc spreadsheet to connect and calculate the average."
If not possible, does anyone know a good alternative to the SUMPRODUCT function?
