    Split text in a cell

    Hello Forum,

I have a spreadsheet with a few thousand rows of information in one column as shown below,i am trying to split the information and return in separate cells so i will have 5 columns Name,POSTCODE,E:MAIL ADDRESS,TELEPHONE and CAMERA CLUB/PHOTO SOCIETY/FEDERATION.
The information is variable ,ie NAME could be 20 characters, but the information required is the same in all cells.

NAME: Dave Smith POSTCODE: ABC 123 E:MAIL ADDRESS: [email protected] TELEPHONE: 01234567890 CAMERA CLUB/PHOTO SOCIETY/FEDERATION: London

    Would appreciate any help.

    Doug

The attached file shows how you can do that. It might be better to have the formulae in another sheet.

    Hope this helps.

Re: Split text in a cell

This will split your text as required with the exception of Telephone and the following text up to the colon

What length are the real telephone numbers, and what format are they in?

Is the scan warning always present and preceded by "--"?

Post a few real lines of data so we can see the real problem

    [EDIT]
Didn't look at file 1, and rashly assumed the second would have the same examples!

Re: Split text in a cell

Okay, a few Insert Cells, then Delete cells in my file to get the formulae in the same relative place, and then just copy into row 2 of your latest file, and there you have it.

    Hope this helps.
