Reverse Ebay and Paypal Fee Formula??

    Hi,

I know there are numerous calculators available on the web that allow a one off reverse calculation but I want to set up a spreadsheet so that I can set a desired profit percentage on my item production costs and have it reverse calculate the required listing price to result in the desired net price. Ebay fees (ignoring the listing fee) is 10% of sale price and paypal fees are 3.4% of sale price plus £0.20p.

    Can anyone help me out?

I have attached the Ebay and Paypal calculator as required by you.

Just change the production cost and profit percentage and get the Net Price for which the product needs to be sold.

    Hi,

Thanks for you efforts. I've tried to include your formulas in to my sheet to calculate the desired listing price but struggling with the reverse percentage i.e. I work backwards to get to a post ebay fee's value of £2.00 and know that ebay fees are 10% but that would give a £2.20 starting price but 10% would be 0.22 and not 0.20.

I've attached an example to show what I'm trying to do (Trying being the word).

Okay, I solved the reverse percentage formula (pretty basic really) but still not confident that the sheet calculate the required starting price to end up with the desired net.

Re: Reverse Ebay and Paypal Fee Formula??

The problem I think I have is that I dont know how to avoid/solve the circular nature of the calculation on a spread sheet.

For example: I sell something for £300. ebay wants 10% (£30) and paypal wants 3.4%+20p (£10.40) so the simple solution would be to charge £340.40 but then that alters ebays fees to £34.04 and paypal £11.76 and so on.

Can anyone please help me work out how to avoid this?

I'm trying to emulate the following calculator but on a spreadsheet so that I can perform multiple calculations at the same time.
