Don't even know how to describe it quickly....

In my C column for my expense and income report for my business i put the place i made a purchase. For tax reasons, in column I i have the city it was purchased and in column J, I have the county that city is in.. What I want, is for anytime I enter "SCP-Fort Worth" into ANY row in column C, it puts "Fort Worth" into column I, and Tarrant into column J on the same row automatically. So if i enter "SCP-Fort Worth" into C17, then in I17 it puts "Fort Worth" and in J17 it puts "Tarrant". I want to do this for the entire I and J columns at once so I dont have to go through each cell in those columns and add a formula. Thanks in advance.

To begin with, I would suggest that you change your thread title - to something like "enter data, other cells change accordingly"

Then you need to play around with an if() statement

=if(criteria-to-test,what-to-do-if-test=TRUE,what-to-do-if-test=FALSE)
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)
2. If your question is resolved, mark it SOLVED using the thread tools
3. Click on the star if you think someone helped you

humdingaling that worked great but how do I add that to the entire column so I don't have to go to I and J18 and enter the code but for cell #18 and then #19, etc? I want to apply that formula to each cell in the entire column but for the respective row #

Hi!
Use double click on formula and it will roll through other cells as well.

Cheers!

If you took a few moments to read the forum rules (like most others do), then we wont have to "bark", and you wont need the snide remarks

Forum rules=fine print and terms & conditions that most people don't read. Anyway, no need for me to read them or change the title, I got my answer. Thanks for the infraction, it really set me straight. G'day
