Counting Post Code Entries Across Sheets

    Hi guys,

I am hoping you might have a 'sexier' formula to help me! I am trying to count different partial post codes across a multiple sheets.

At the moment I use the following formula to help me do this but it is quite cumbersome and will not work for all post codes (as I will explain later):

    =COUNTIF(SL3!F:F,"PO30" & "*")+COUNTIF(SL3!F:F,"PO33" & "*")

I am using the wildcard in this formula as the last 3 characters could be any range. I then use a slightly amended formula to count the two specific post codes above across a few other sheets called SL4a, SL4b and SL5 and then total the result.

This works well when I only have a couple of post codes to count but I also need to count the following range of post codes and this is where I run into some trouble! Is there a way of counting many partial post codes: IV6, IV15, IV17, IV19 and IV44:IV56? Please be aware that the last characters in the post codes could be different and the formula should count all of these.

If there is also a way to count these post codes across the multiple sheets without me having to change the formula each time i would love to know!

    Thanks,
    Jake

Does no one have any ideas on this?
