Copying and pasting a table of data with individually color filled cells

    Hello friends,

I have a large table of data in which each cell is color filled with a different color in each cell. (More or less at random) I need to copy and paste the table into a new workbook however when I paste the data I would like color filled cells to be pasted as well, not just the numbers. Is there any way to do this? I cannot attach the workbook because the information is confidental.

Just select entire sheet, right click, copy, open new sheet, click cell A1 and paste

Already did that, but i need it so that the colors that are filled in each cell are copied too, rather than just the numbers.

Are the coloured cells a result of conditional formatting?

    yes they are,

I copied and pasted the entire tab to new a workbook however since the database is protected I cannot make changes as necessary. However if I copy and paste the table by highlight the entire table it will return the data but without the colors.

You could try highlighting the entire sheet then copy, paste special, formats, (then paste special values)

    Excellent, I have that working

Now I need to copy a row of data but only the visible data which would include 17 columns. However, after pressing control + C and then alt + colon/semicolon it still paste 144 columns of data rather than just the 17 columns of visible data that I want. What seems to be the problem?

Sounds like your highlighting the entire row. Click the first cell and hold down the left mouse button, drag across to the 17th cell then release. With the cursor over a highlighted cell, right click then cop and paste to the new location.

Well Im not highlighting the entire row, just 17 cells. However there are hidden columns between each visble column. Using the alt + colon/semicolon method isnt working because it still pastes 144 cells of data which consists of the 17 visible columns of data and all of the hidden columns of data which adds up to 144 column being pasted. I want just the visible columns being pasted. (17 cells)

You could just highlight the cells you want by holding the Ctrl key while the select them

the cell count is still saying 144. I might just have to give up on this for the time being.
