Count formula

I have a column of data in sheet 2 of a workbook. The data is all in column A, see sample below

Sheet2
A1 Age 1-2
A2 Age 3-4
A3 Age 5-6
A4 Age 7-8

I need a formula to count how often these sizes appear in column F in sheet 1 and display the result. Is there a formula that will quickly do this?

This should do it. Adjust the range to suit your data. Enter in Sheet2!B1 if your data starts in A1

You're profile says 2003, I *think* this will work in 2003. Take a look at the countif() function
