    Formula help

I'm having difficulties trying to create a formula. The formula is supposed to work as so:

    B4-B15 is Inventory
    C4-B15 is Total

If a cell F17-1000 contains any word listed in Inventory then any value entered adjacent cell (G17-1000) is deducted from the Total section corresponding to the inventory item listed.

I'm sorry if this doesn't make sense - but it's the best way I can explain it. I've been going rounds trying to get this figured out and any help would be appreciated.

Can you change your thread title to something more suited to your problem please, eg: "Formula to deduct a value found in a list".
This can by done by clicking Thread Tools at the top of the page.

This will then comply with Rule 1 of the forum and we will be able to help you out.

Doesn't sound very hard. But if you post a small example of the expected result and how you got to that you will probably have more luck finding a solution.

    Re: Formula help

I appreciate the fast responses everyone..
Apparently I was overthinking the formula thinking it was 1 formula and not 2 seperate ones that can easily perform the action. I've got this all lined up now. Sorry for the newb posting / question.
