    Problem with data managment

    Hi everybody,
I would like to submit you a problem that is driving me crazy lately (I'm not a good excel user so please go easy on me ).
I have to create a database using various information about some offices in my city. I've been using informations from online phone books but the numbers of these offices are quite high (500+) and it's impossible to catalogue them manually. I'll upload the pictures about what's happening and what i would like to obtain:

    prob1.png ; prob2.png ; prob3.png

So, to the left you can see the actual database copied straight from internet, to the right you can see the database that I'm trying to create.
In white [prob1] it's what i've manually written with the basic formula (=$B2); in yellow [prob2] you can see what's happening if I try to apply this sequence to the cells below; in green [prob3] it's what I WOULD like to have as a result so that I can easily create this database even with great numbers of cells.

I hope I've explained myself and I'll rely on your great knowledge of this program.
    Greetings,

    Iesus

    Hello Iesus
Following the layout of your pictures, in D2 copied across to I2 and then down the sheet:

Please Login or Register to view this content.
This assumes the layout is consistent with each name taking up 6 rows as per your example. This formula references down to row B500, but adjust to your needs.

    Hope this helps.

    Re: Problem with data managment

Thanks for the help DBY but unfortunately it doesn't work for me (I guess excel 2013 may use different commands for the functions).
The error that shows up is:

" We found a problem with this formula. Try clicking Insert Function on the Formulas tab to fix it or click Help for more info on common formula problems"

Anyway now I know I'll have to work with the index function and I'll try my best knowing that if I ever get into trouble again I can ask you guys :D

    Thank you a lot!

    Re: Problem with data managment

Glad you got it to work. The error you mentioned with the formula usually signifies something wrong with the syntax. Different versions of Excel use either the semicolon separator or the comma. Mine uses the comma and yours obviously the semicolon.
