    drop down list with options

    As the user choices from the drop down menu at the end they have a choice to split amounts between customer and job. I would like if they choose "yes" under Split column, that either a text box appears either right below or on the side of the split column. That would allow them to input this additional information.

    Or give them the option to go back to customer and job column to select from the drop down the additional information.

    If nothing is selected in the split column then nothing appears and the go to the next

    using excel 2011 MAC

    thank you

    Please upload a workbook or a representative cut down copy, anonymised if necessary. It is always easier to advise if we can see your request in its context.

    Show a before and after situation and if it's not blindingly obvious how you have arrived at your results some explanatory notes as well.

    Please don't upload pictures. None of us are inclined to recreate your data when you have a workbook available - see guidelines in the Rules area of this forum.

    Re: drop down list with options

    Hi,

    Is the Split column supposed to be a drop down cell with Yes or No available for selection?
    It would seem logical to keep all information on the same row. Is it not easier just to add information to the column J cells where the Split column says Yes. Why would you want a text box?

    I'm not sure what you mean when you say "Or give them the option to go back to customer and job column to select from the drop down the additional information.". The customer & Job columns already have data validation options - why would you want to lose these by selecting something else.

    Perhaps some worked examples in your sheet would help.
