    Mass Highlighter Function

    Hello all,

I was wondering if anyone knew of a mass-highlighting formula/function/macro that, for a given spreadsheet, it will highlight all cells (in a yellow fill or something) that contain a specific character, such as a quotation mark, or a semi-colon. I'm working out of a massive spreadsheet, 300 columns by 170,000 rows, and I want to highlight any cell with that character. I don't want to remove the character, because for the purposes of what I'm doing, it wouldn't help.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    M

    Hi,

You should use Conditional Formatting (Home -> Styles -> Conditional Formatting).
    1. Select all the data first, then click Conditional Formatting, New Rule, Format only cells that contain.
    2. Instead of Cell Value (first drop down box), choose Specific text, and enter the text you want.

Hope that works out for you!

    Thanks,
    Duncan
