lookup first value in a column

Have been researching Vlookup and Index functions, but having trouble grasping them.
In Worksheet 2, cell F18, I want automatically entered the first numeric value that appears in column AL of worksheet 1.
Seems very simple, but cannot get it to work. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!
