How do I use the code function

I have created a spreadsheet for estimating construction projects. I have a Code # column on my spreadsheet. I have a list of what each code means on the second page. How do I incorporate these codes into my worksheet? For example, I would like to enter and 1 in thee Code # column and the in my labor column, it automatically generate the wage and tools hourly rate selected for the number.

    KennethL,

    Welcome to the forum!
What you've described sounds like exactly what the VLookup() function was designed for.
    Hope that helps,

Re: How do I use the code function

Thank you. I read all the info on VLOOKUP() and I still cannot comprehend how to insert this function into my worksheet and make it work. Is there a way to upload my worksheet to this forum so that you can show me how the formula should be?
