    Performance with Percentages

    Been struggling with this one for awhile, thought someone smarter out there can figure this out. Thanks in advance for the help.

    Fixed Numbers
    A1 = Minimum Performance at 8.0%
    B1 = Target Performance at 12.0%
    C1 = Actual Performance at 10.0%

    The calculation:
    Since C1 is above our minimum performance and below our target performance, it technically is 50.0% of the two numbers. I would like D1 to calculate this formula, but I am having trouble coming up with it. I'm also struggling with what happens if it is above our target performance.

    D1 = 50.0%

    Thanks,
    Kevin

    Re: Performance with Percentages

    d1 =$C$1/A1 = 125%
    e1 =$C$1/B1 = 83%

    if c1 change to 24 e1 will get as result 200%

    Re: Performance with Percentages

    Thank you for the quick reply oeldere. I like your approach however, I receive 42.0%. In my head, I feel that 10.0% is 50.0% because it is in the middle of 8.0% and 12.0%. Yet, I am unable to come up with the formula. In my head it may be one way but am I wrong? Am I wrong in the process that I'm trying to come up with this?

    Thanks again.

    Re: Performance with Percentages

    I think you made a failure in your counting.

    The formula's i gave you are financial values.

    If you want the result to be 50% it can be made by excel; but i think it's a wrong answer.

    Kevin,

    Have a look at the attached, where the formula:

    in D1 appears to do what you want it to do - ie, it returns 50%, and this works for a range of numbers. However, as alluded to earlier in the thread, perhaps this is not exactly the correct path/approach to take - see what happens in the last example?
