Finding & Deleting Duplicates in a List

I have 3 Excel files, each have thousands of email contacts. I would like to identify and delete any duplicates between the 3 files / lists of emails.

    Any advice for doing this?

MY guess is the best way would be to move all lists to 1 Excel file and each list is in its own separate tab...call each tab list 1, list 2, list 3...and run some sort of formula that checks / identifies / deletes any duplicates...would a 'vlookup' formula work here? Perhaps a 'match' formula?

    Thanks!

Perhaps create one long list, then go to Data - Remove Duplicates ?

Re: Finding & Deleting Duplicates in a List

    My apologies...poorly worded question above...

I want to check for any contacts in List 1 that may also be in List 2 and List 3. If a contact is in List 1 and also in either 2 or 3, I want to delete that contact from List 1, but I do NOT want to add any 'new' contacts from List 2 and List 3 to List 1.

e.g. Say John Smith is in List 1...and also in List 2...I would then delete John Smith from List 1...Say instead Joe Blow is in List 2 and List 3, but NOT in list 1...I would NOT add Joe Blow to List 1.

Hope that makes sense. Simple example I hope, again using lists with thousands of contacts.

    Thanks!

There are collections in excel. They always conatin only unique values. If one tries to add not unique item then vba will get error. that's why "On Error resume NExt" needed. Rows after "On error resume next" add items to collection. at the end you get collection of all unique items. The example how to use it you can see in the second part of code ( with listbox). Hope it helps
