Write value to another sheet from the same cell based on date?

In my 'Daily Sales Tracking' sheet I have a layout that never changes.
In cells C13 to C52 I have 20 items (named from Item 1 to Item 20).
For example cell C13 is Item 1, and cell to the right of it is it's 'Target', the next cell is a '%', and the next cell is the 'Actual Sales'. The 'Target' and '%' get their data using vlookup in the 'Data' sheet.
In the 'Actual Sales' cell is where the user would input that days actual sales. And this I need written to certain cells in the "Data' sheet according to the date. I have highlighted the according cells in the workbook.

I tried to do this with a scrollable field, but couldn't figure it out.

I have added a helper formula in column A which can be hided by changing font color

The only problem with that is I need the value to be retained in the Data sheet cell.
So if it's 12/30/2012, then I need to write the 'Actuals Sales' to the data sheet, then when you switch dates, retain that value.
