COUNTIF Table and another table of values

Hello,

I am trying to put together a couple of data sets to get a number.

I have a Table full of mac addresses

Table1 Column header is "User MAC"
Type of data in column is 34-C0-59-7D-DF-E7

I have a second sheet with just basic data like this

Samsung Devices
34-C0-59
34-C0-58
34-C0-60

I want to do a countif that will count the samsung devices in the Table1 "User MAC" column based on whether or not the MAC address begins with ANY of the Samsung vendor ID's listed in the second sheet.


Any help is appreciated. Thank you

'User_MAC' is the range with the Mac addresses and A2 contains the code of the Samsung Device.

It may be more complex than this but I hope it helps.

Thanks for he reply. That works with one value to search by. My issue is that I have multiple values in the second sheet with the vendor ids. So its like I need a loop threw the possible values to search with the wildcard for and thats what I'm not sure is possible. Again thanks for the reply.

Hi and welcome to the forum

i would suggest you upload a sample work book, (all sensitive data removed), showing what data you are working with, a few examples of what your expected outcome is, and how you arrived at that
To attach a file to your post,
click advanced (next to quick post),
scroll down until you see "manage file",
click that and select "add files" (top right corner).
click "select files" find your file, click "open" click "upload" click 'done" bottom right. click "submit reply"

Once the upload is completed the file name will appear below the input boxes in this window.
You can then close the window to return to the new post screen.

Thanks. I have uploaded a sample of what I'm trying to do. I couldn't find how to delete so I ended up uploading two files. DeviceSummary2 is the one I want to use. The first sheet I want to have a summary count of types of devices based on the vendor ID of the MAC address. The possible vendor ID's are stored on the second sheet in 3 separate tables. The data i want to count from is the "User MAC" column of the Device Summary Table on the second sheet.

I've attempted to come up with a formula to count as you require. As you can see in the attached reply, there's a count table on the 'Session Data' tab which appears to tally with the formulas in the 'Device Summary' tab.

Hopefully this is doing what you require.

Glad to have helped. The table was there just as a check but you can of course use it to create your summary rather than the single formulas in the 'Device Summary' Tab.
