vlookup - How to compare numbers that are present in two workbooks

    Hello Excel Guru's,

I am sure this will be easy for you.

Workbook A is a progress report - Column A has a title of account # starting in A2 it has an account number all the way through to A15583 (could get longer)
Workbook B is the master list - Column F as the title of account # and starting an F2 it has an account number " "

I need to compare Workbook A (progress report) - Column A to Workbook B (master list) - Column F.

    I can't combine the books.

I can't seem to get the standard vlookup to work.

This is being done with excel 2003

Thanks in advance - Let me know if you need anything else.

    Hi
VLOOKUP will not compare two values, it will simply return a value from the location you specify. Can you post a sample with notes of exactly what you are trying to achieve.
    Tony
