adding two or more cells with text and numbers

I'm new to excel and I'm liking it,
How do I add two cells that have letters and a formula in it:
="(A) " &SUM(B2:B32) this cell shows this (A) 12464
="(B) " &SUM(C2:C32) this cell showa this (B) 15357.48
I use this: =SUM(B33,C33) and get 0
What I'm doing wrong?
Please help

-You're not trying to concatenate a letter in this example. Do the cells B33 and C33 add up to 0?

Try this instead...

In B33 >> Right click >> Format cells >> Number tab >> Custom >> Type: "(A) "0

Now do the same for C33, but of course this time make it >> "(B) "0

Now B33 and C33 are actual numbers so you can now use =SUM(B33:C33)

For the decimals, just change the custom format to "(A) "0.00
