IF and Index formulas with Dates

Hey all,

I am creating an cascading dashboard. It goes by month, driver and then dates. I am having trouble with a formula. I have used it before but it doesn't seem to work right when dates are involved. When a certain driver is selected, I want the formula to look up the certain dates of the driver under that specific month. This is the formula:

=IF(G2<=$D$55,INDEX(dates, $E$1+$G$1,1),"")

Instead of it recognizing the date (which is in form mm/dd/yy), it creates a value of 41337 and so fourth. how do I get it to get the date to show up in the cell?
