is there an isformula function or similar for a conditional formatting problem?

CF Issue.xlsx

Hi,
I'm trying to conditional format a sheet based on the whether a cell is empty, the issue is that the cell is linked from another sheet so that it is technically not empty.

I've tried variations of istext, isnonblank but cant seem to get it working is there something like isformula or another way around it?

any help would be much appreciated

try a simple =F3=0
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)

Hi,
Thanks for the quick response, I updated the sample workbook, it doesn't have a straight =f3 anymore it has something else to get around another formatting issue so the =0 approach wont work for me.
thanks again

Yes thanks, I think I tried so many variations of things that I over looked the simply one, very much a case ofnot seeing the forest through the trees!
Thanks

Re: is there an isformula function or similar for a conditional formatting problem?

I'm stuck on this on again!

I was trying to get a side border under the condition that the heading cell would be empty, which I managed to do, but now I'm realising that I'm getting a side border in all empty columns. I would like the side border to frame the data so that only the data has a border.

Can it be done with the if and functions? e.g. if f2:h2 are empty and e2 is not empty place a border on it?

I cant seem to figure it out my heads a little fried with this one

help would be great
Thanks
