    multiplying...yeah not so simple anymore.

Hello. My brain just exploded inside my head from me trying to figure out how to make a certain formula. I hope someone here can help me. This formula is for a strategy war game, and here is the scenario: I have 50 infantry soldiers each worth 10 units of offense. This represents a total offensive force of 500. That would be an easy formula. Now enter the "special character". Let's say this special character boosts the offense of infantry soldiers by 5, but it can only boost 20 infantry. Sure I could purchase another special character then I would be able to boost 20+20 or 40 however the last 10 infantry would not be boosted. Now to calculate the total offense of 50 infantry and 2 special units the formula would also be easy, but we have the remaining 10 unboosted soldiers. For some reason this seems beyond complex to me when i try to program a formula for it. I am no Excel pro, and I never took a course. I have, however, learned a lot about this program just from the need for spreadsheets in this game.

Have you tried adjusting the 20 boost formula and dividing it by .5? then it would only do half which would be the left over 10.

I misspoke earlier so I wanted to make sure I cleared it up. I have attached a jpg to this post where you can see what I am about to explain. The yellow arrow indicated the max number of Cavalry (blue arrow) that can lend boost to the special character. If I have 25 of the Cavalry there is really no issue, but if I have 20 or thirty then the adding of the offensive points becomes a bit complicated to program for. Cavalry has a base rate of 360 offensive points (OP). The Pegasus has a base of 1008 OP. Each cavalry that travels with the Pegasus gives it a 250 OP boost up to 6250 OP from 25 followers. If the Pegasus has 25 Cavalry with it then its OP goes from the 1008 base to the boosted (by 6250) 7258. Here is an example with 100 Cavalry. For 100 Cavalry the total OP is 36000. That number become 37008 when you add in the Pegasus base OP rate. Then you have to add in 25 boosts of 250 OP(The other 75 Cavalry do not boost anything at all, but if I added another Pegasus than another 25 Cavalry would boost the second Pegasus.). A written formula might look like this: (360*100)+1008+(250*25)=43258. There could also arise a situation where I can send only 5 Cavalry with the Pegasus which would then look like this on paper: (360*5)+1008+(5*250)=15290. I hope this clears it up. I need to know how to write that into an Excel formula if anyone out there knows how they would do it. The idea is to automate as much as we can. All of the players in my group need to calculate numbers like this and sometimes rapidly. Doing it on paper individually is ridiculous.

My brain is mush from trying to figure this out. I think that would work, but only if a person has one special character. What if I had 4 special characters and 50 base troops? That is the formula I need.

How do you just crank something like that out? Excel is complicated to me, but you make it look easy.

    change B1 to 150
    change B3 to xxxxx (5 times x = 5 special characters)
    And see what happen.
