    Cross Referencing from 3 Spreadsheets

    Hi,

I hope you can help me. I have three excel sheets containing data in relation to road traffic accidents. One sheet has details on the casualty, one has details on the vehicle and one has details on the collision itself.

Each accident has a unique reference number, is these anyway I can put these all into one sheet so I can see the collision/casualty/vehicle details for each accident?

This is for my dissertation and I am running out of time, I had done the fatalities by hand but there is SO many serious/slight I just wouldn't be able to!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

    Emma

    Hi Emma
If the unique reference number is stored in each separate workbook then you can use the VLOOKUP function to populate a new spreadsheet with ALL the information from each of the three separate workbooks.
    Hope this helps.

Re: Cross Referencing from 3 Spreadsheets

    Hi Emma
    For example:
    =VLOOKUP(A2,[Book2]Sheet1!$A:$D,2,FALSE)
In your master workbook you would have a list of your unique reference numbers. This formula would search for the unique reference number that is in A2 of your master workbook and search for the same reference number in columns A to D in Book 2 and when it finds it return the value in column 2.
You need to do this for each field you want to return a value from with the same unique reference number. Then copy the formulae down each column using the handle in the bottom right hand corner of the cell.
There are many tutorials for VLOOKUP on the web.
    Hope this example helps you.
