Capitalize first letter of every word

    Hi

I have an enormous set of spreadsheets, which are added to on a daily basis, but I am having to "capitalise" all of the words (excluding the first) / names produced.

It's an absolute "mare" and takes me ages!

Is there ANY way to set the "Propercase" in a column so it types... As I type, but without the "helper column scenario"?

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Steve

Do you have a spreadsheet that you can upload for us to examine?

    Hi Guys

Your replies are very much appreciated.

I was site-hopping last night and came across Kutool, which provides a simple way to do this, however you need to download Kutool(free for 30 days)then, if you are happy with the extra added items to be
had, sign up for 2 years @ $19.00, or 5 years @ $38.00 and as I need this help, am going to sign up for the 5 years.

I chose this route as I couldn't be bothered with the VBA I had set up.

I'm just a tad miffed that Microsoft couldn't incorporate this (on-click) tool in their program... Come on Microsoft, get your finger out!!! LOL

    Thanks anyway guys.

    Steve

PS One of my spreadsheets (just looked) has no fewer than 642,000 rows, so you can imagine a one-click tool works wonders... Highly recommended!

    Hi F

Thanks for your help, however I installed ASAP and, after inputting a large amount of data around 4 times now (then making it all Propercase) it is totally freezing my PC, which inevitably means closing my programs and losing the data that has been input.

I will re-install Kutool, as this had NO problems at all, and for $38.00 for a 5 year span... Well I think that's OK!

    I appreciate your help though.

    Thanks

    Steve

    Hi,
I'm sure the above helped. But you might want to try the "Proper" function.
Eg. if cell A2 contains data 'excel is great', in cell B2 input the syntax [=Proper(A2)]. The output in cell B2 says 'Excel Is Great'.
Let me know if this helps.

    Thanks, KM
P.S: available in Microsoft 2010. Not sure about other versions.

    Hi K

Thanks for your post, but I did mention that I preferred not having to use the "helper" (column A & column B scenario) column as I haven't enough room for that extra column.

I have re-installed Kutool, and I'm happy to live with it.

Thanks to all who took the time out to help, it was very much appreciated.

Re: Capitalize first letter of every word

I apologise if I am asking a little too often, but my Excel program seems to have lost the ability/control over the capitalizing of the first letter in any cell i.e Blue is being input as blue, Joshua - joshua etc.
    I have followed the recommended:-

    Specify exceptions to automatic capitalization

You can specify exceptions to a few of the capitalization rules. The exceptions that you set are global across the Office programs that support this feature, which means that any change that you make to this list in one program also affects the other programs.
    1.Click the File tab.
    2.Click Options.
    3.Click Proofing.
    4.Click AutoCorrect Options.

But this doesn't have any effect at all.

Any ideas on what I might be doing wrong?

Once again... Thanks for any help at all.
