    multiplying two cell locations

When multiplying two cell locations which contain decimal values I get #VALUE error displayed.
    Multiplying whole numbers is ok
Formatting the cells for 'number', 'general' or 'currency' doesn't affect the result.
    Help!!

Your values are no values, because the decimal separator is wrong. I don't know if you're using a point or a comma, but try to use the other one (if you use the NumPad you always have the right one).
When I say semicolon, u say comma!

Thanks for that. That fixes it. Changed entries decimal point separator to comma and value error disappears. That's all ok but I want to use decimal points, not commas. This is a new problem for me. Been using point as separator for years, why the sudden change i an old existing spreadsheet? Any idea?
