Lightbulb How Do I Apply the Same Formula to the Entire Workbook? I.E Trim & Proper

    Hi Guys,

Ive search my brains out everywhere trying to figure out how to copy & Paste a formula into the Entire Workbook without having to create new columns for each section and then copying it down, copying it and special pasting it as values into the main column the data originally came from. I simply need to Trim (Remove any additional spaces) and add Proper (Make each word Title Case) case sensitivity to each word for a large series of workbooks.

is there any way I Can just add the same formula to the entire workbook? Im fairly new to Excel ( Just started learning it 2 weeks ago) so if possible could you give me a play by play set of instructions in dummy terms if you are able to help me. If this was already posted as a thread and I missed it - my apologies.

    Thanks!

Hi, and welcome to the forum

If you upload a sample workbook that accurately reflects your production workbook, with some narrative explaining what formula you want to copy, into which cell you want to paste it and manually add the results you expect to see after the paste, I'm sure someone will be able to help.

Re: How Do I Apply the Same Formula to the Entire Workbook? I.E Trim & Proper

Its really only about 9 Columns and about 20 rows of plain simple text. All I want to do is remove the extra spaces and make all the words title case. The way im doing it now is by inserting a column to the right of the column filled with the orginal data, I use either =TRIM or =PROPER and I select (A1) and then I copy that formula to all of the cells below, I then Copy & Special Paste (Values) to the same inserted cell, then I copy the revised Data into the first column. Then I repeat the same thing for the rest of the columns. Basically All I want to do is remove any Additional spacing in between words. EXAMPLE - I walked my dog today. There is an extra space there and the TRIM Formula removes that automatically. EXAMPLE 2 - "I walked my dog today." I want it to be "I Walked My Dog Today." The PROPER Formula does that and makes the first letter of each word a Capitol letter.

All I want to know is how to apply formulas to an entire spread sheet without having to insert a column for every column I need adjusted.

I hope this sheds some light on what im trying to do & Again I sincerely thank you all for any help.

In columns to the right of your data, enter your formula, copy down (for as many rows as you have) and across(for as many columns as you have), then copy/paste values and then delete your original columns
    1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)
