Unhappy Help creating a base calculator

    Hi everyone,

There may be a thread regarding this already and I have tried searching the web for about 2 hours looking for an answer with no joy.

I'm trying to make a base calculator based on binary, decimal and hex so that what ever number (or letter) I enter gets automatically calculated to the other the other 2 bases.
I'm doing an access course and I've been told to create a calculator to help me calculate from every possible way. I have found a some web based ones and even found an excel based one, but I want to create one myself so that I can understand excel a bit better.

Any help would save my laptop and would be greatly appreciated too.

P.S I'm looking to add a button to calculate but have no idea how to write a macro yet, but would this have any impact on the formulas in the cell?

Look at this tutorial. It will show you how to do Base to Binary.

Re: Help creating a base calculator

Those are some good links but they are not exactly what im looking for.

I'm looking for a way that if I put any form of base into one field, that it can calculate the other two base. For example, if I was to put 192 in the field, I want it to automatically show as C0 and 11000000 in two separate fields. Same if I put a hex number or a binary number in the field.

I have a very basic calculator where I have bin2dec, bin2hex, hex2bin etc listed one by one with the values that cant be converted shown as num or null values.

I'm looking to make a really polished version of that with the one field for entering the base, and 3 separate fields for the binary, decimal and hex conversions with a button to generate the calculation if that makes any sense.

I've seen a way to make a calculator using drop down lists but I dont know how complicates that will be to create.

One thing I should have asked in the original post, is there a way to have 2 formulas in the same cell? Such as bin2dec and dec2bin?

    Thanks again in advance
