    Using vlookup based on range

I'm not familiar with vlookup and don't know how to use it with a range. I used to do this with IF funtion but it was only for 3 levels but now had changed and I think it will be easier with VLOOKUP
I need to pay commission on average sales and I have a range of different values depending on average
    Average CommI
    11.50 0.02
    11.75 0.04
    12.00 0.06
    12.25 0.08
    12.50 0.10
    12.75 0.12
    13.00 0.14
    13.25 0.16
    13.50 0.18
    13.75 0.20
If average is between 11.50 and 11.75 comm is 0.02. and between 11.75 and 12.00 comm is 0.04.
Can somebody help me with this?

Re: Using vlookup based on range

A vlookup is the item you are looking up (like value in A2), the table array it is in (different or same sheet or different workbook - usually columns (like B:D) and the column index (cannot exceed the column count so in B:D it can't be 4 or more), then true or false for approximate match or exact match (respectively).
Other than that you might have to post a spreadsheet to get more help.

EDIT: and I'm not sure based on what you wrote that a vlookup is what you need.

Thanks Sambo Kid, I solve the problem now that you explain the parameters of the formula.
