Median with IF not working?

Hello - I have reviewed numerous other posts and cannot seem to get this formula to work

=MEDIAN(IF(B2:B16,C1,A2:A16))

or

=MEDIAN(IF(B2:B16,"=Single Family",A2:A16))

See attached file.

I am using Excel for Mac 2011

I think its the syntax of your IF statement that's wrong, try:

Entered as an Array - Ctrl+Shift+Enter.
