Invoice Numbering

I have read through several other posts on invoice numbering and can not get mine to increase upon either an open/save. What do I need to do in order to have the invoice number increase on each invoice template at the same time? I have no experience with the VBE portion of Excel. Please can anyone shed some insight into this?
