Locate error in Indirect Dependent cells

    Hey,

I have a data validation drop down list in one cell (A1), the fields of which each have Indirect subcategories in B1. So if for example, I select Fruits from the drop down in A1 (other fields: Vegetables, Dairy), then the list in B1 will only have Apples, Oranges (and not Broccoli, Milk, etc.)

Is there a formula or code I can use to highlight any errors in this dependency? I.e. If I choose Fruits, then Apples, but go back and change Fruits to Vegetables, Apples will still be in B1.

    Thanks!

    Hello
You could perhaps use conditional formatting to highlight a discrepancy between the B1 selection and the A1 category. For example this CF formula would highlight the cell in this event:

    Hope this helps.
