vlookup with partial data

    vlookup with partial data

    I need to do a vlookup. But in my first sheet it may say Linda Inc. In the lookup sheet it says Linda. Can I do a lookup using just the first 5 values. vlookup(d2,sheetname,left5,0) for example

    Try this...

    you had ,left5, in your formula, was that a typo or a range name? Because if not, then the column number need to be just that...a number
