I need to create a conditional paragraph based on the value of a cell...

First, thank you for your assistance. Second, here is my dilemma:

I am a physician attempting to create a form that will assist in quickly interpreting laboratory data. While we receive laboratory results listing whether test results are within "laboratory normal" values, laboratory normals are different from "homeostatic normal" values. In other words, just because something is not pathologically abnormal, that doesn't mean that those results are homeostatically optimum. Therefore, I wanted to build a sheet that would allow me to enter laboratory results and automatically return findings of "high" or "low" based on homeostatic values.

I have successfully constructed page one which lists all of the common laboratory tests that are performed, and returns a value of "high" or "low" in the last column based on the values entered in another column of patient test results.

What I am struggling with is page two. I would like, beginning on page two, to have this form return results in paragraph form based on the values determined in the "high vs. low" column. In other words, if the value is "high," I would like page two to read like this:
    High Test Name
    Common causes of this are:
    1) Cause #1
    2) Cause #2
    3) Cause #3

    Common treatments for this are:
    1) Treatment #1
    2) Treatment #2
    3) Treatment #3
Conversely, if the test result is "low," the paragraph returned would be different.

If the test result is blank, then nothing is returned.

Is there a way to do this? And, when the results are returned, I would like them to be one after the other on the page as opposed to one section of results followed by a big blank space where negative value cells are located and then the next positive test result. Obviously, it would fall to the physician to interpret the multiple findings contained within the report to deduce what is the most likely cause of the underlying data, but this could go a long way towards accumulating the data in one place to point the physician in the right direction.

I apologize if similar issues have been discussed before. I've tried to search the forum, but am not finding a similar scenario that solves my problem.

Yes, it could be done, but you need to supply a sample workbook so we can see how your data is laid out and how best to report it. The FAQ describes how to attach a file to your post.

Thanks for responding. I didn't find an exact link for what you're requesting but think I can figure out how to post what I've got so far. Here is the document I've created to this point: I've attached the file I've created to date. The information that will be inserted as the conditional information is proprietary data which I do not have permission to post here, but suffice it to say the data will be in the format of:
    If Test Name is "High,"
    Common Causes of This Are:
    1) Cause #1
    2) Cause #2
    3) Cause #3

    Common Treatments for this are:
    1) Treatment #1
    2) Treatment #2
    3) Treatment #3

In your first post you said:

If the test result is blank, then nothing is returned.
and the file you posted has no sample test results in it so we can't work on it. Please supply some example results and then in another sheet show how you would like that set of results to be displayed.

EDIT: Also, where are we likely to get the common causes and common treatments from ?

Re: I need to create a conditional paragraph based on the value of a cell...

Pete, I apologize for misunderstanding what you were looking for. So, in this first excel file, I've plugged in a few sample numbers that are representative of a BMP and a CBC w/diff. I've also attached a "Word" file that is indicative of the type of output I'm looking for. This is primarily for the in-house brief overview of test results to point the doc in possible directions... Therefore, it doesn't have to be a pretty report produced in Word. I don't care if it spits it out in Word or is just autogenerated within the same Excel file. After plugging in the test results, I plan to print out the report and then discard the entries... leaving the original excel file unaltered and ready to use on the next patient report.

In my example, you'll see that Sodium and Potassium are low, therefore the information for consideration when either of these are low is presented. These are then immediately followed by the information pertinent when RBCs are low... which is half way down the page as the next value out of normal limits. Then Hemoglobin, because it's the next abnormal value, etc.

As for where I'm getting the info that is pertinent whether a value is high or low... I have multiple books, notes from seminars, etc. that I am gleaning the information from. I realize this going to take me some time to enter everything and build. I just can't figure out how to structure it so that it produces the report I need. Thank you so much for you help. If you need any further clarification, please don't hesitate to ask.
