Counting the number of cells containing a word between two dates.

Hello everyone,
im having trouble trying to figure out how to Count the number of cells containing a word between two dates. for example, in the month of october i want to count how many "tbti" are in october. "tbti" is located in column A. the sheet where the information is coming from is called "Discharges".

This is what i got so far and im trying to plug in "tbti" somewhere in the formula where it would only count it.

=SUMPRODUCT((Discharges!J3:J49984>=DATEVALUE("10/1/2013"))*(Discharges!J3:J49984<=DATEVALUE("10/31/2013")))

Any help would be great. i haven't had any luck searching this information... got close but still no go.

=SUMPRODUCT((Discharges!J3:J49984>=DATEVALUE("10/1/2013"))*(Discharges!J3:J49984<=DATEVALUE("10/31/2013"))*Discharges!A3:A49984="tbti")
