    Vlookup formula problem!!!

    Hi
Can someone help me with the following please:
I want to build a form that will mainly be use by managers to input the delegates names and choose from drop down menu the type of Replacement for an employee.
I have attached file for better understanding of what I would like to achieve.
Column F contains the criteria for the data validation drop down menu and column G contains rates, I want a Managers to choose delegate name and then choose whether a person needs to be replaced for the duration of the training and if so they can choose from drop down menu the type of the replacement which will bring appropiet value in "Training cost report" column C.
I would be grateful for any help as I struggle with this for the last few days.

    Thank You
    Dan

You would be better off using a userform.

They give you a lot more control.

However I will try to understand your requirement.

    Not easy. using your solution.

My first comment is why are you using a drop down list to select an employee name? That is so crude for more than 8 names.

You should instead use two cells, one for first name, one for second name.

Typing M in first name box will fill a listbox with all employees whose first name starts with M
Typing T in the surname box will remove all employees whose surname doesn't start with T

the more letters you type in each box the narrower your selection will get.

My second comment is that you should be using a user form. your solution is horrible.

I have made some changes for you but because you are using a table it still doesn't work properly.

Let me know if you want to try a userform.

    Re: Vlookup formula problem!!!

I would go for any solution that works :-)
All I need is a Managers to fill in the form with names and select the type of Replacement which will calculate cost base on the rates in "Data" So when they choose that replacement isn't required then it would not return any value but if they select for example attending on a day off it will return daily rate, if they choose to be replaced by one of the Agency ops it will change the value base on selection.

    Thhhhhank You
