    Re: Dividing lines

You need to explain what you mean by "dividing lines".

    kegweg,

Start by sorting your data table by whichever column change you want to "trigger" the line.

    1. Select the left-most cell of the first row of your data. Press "Shift+Ctrl+End". This selects all the rows except the header row.
    2. Open Conditional Formatting in the Home tab
    3. Click "New Rule"
    4. Select "Rule Type" at top of the dialog box
    5. Choose "Use a Formula to Determine Which Cells to Format".
    6. In the "Format Values Where This Formula Is True" box, enter =$A4<>$A5 (If your data starts in A4 and you want the line to appear whenever Col A changes. Ij you want it "triggered" by a different column, or the data starts on anther row, enter whichever pair of cell numbers are correct for you.)
7.Click "Format" to display the Format Cells dialog box.
    8. Display the Border tab.
    9. Click "None" button - removes any existing borders
    10. In the "Style" list, select whichever type of border you want to appear
    11. In the "Border" area, click the button that adds your selected border style to the bottom of the cells
    12. Click "OK"
13 Whatever formatting you chose should now appear in the "preview" area for the rule.
    14. Click OK.

You will now see a line appear every time Col A (or whichever column you selected) changes.

    Hope that is clear?

    Re: Dividing lines

    Thank you for rreplierds

    By dividing lines I mean

In column A I have a list of names, in Column 2 and onwards I have a list of values

I need so see what is in column 99, I want to be able to scroll along to column 99 but retain on view the name in column 1

There was a way of doing it by clicking on the very small box immesiately anove the right hand scroll up and down button but I have forgotten how to do that

    It's called freeze panes.

    Select cell A1
Goto the View tab>Freeze Panes>Freeze First Column

    I have no other suggestion.

    Re: Dividing lines

There is another option but I'm not sure what it's called or if it's available on your version.

At the bottom right hand side of the application window where the horizontal scroll bar is located...

Next to the right pointing arrow there is a thick vertical line. You can "grab" that line with your mouse and drag it to the left as far as you'd like to get the effect you desire.

    Re: Dividing lines

The other option - if it's available in Start 2010 - is to simply "Hide" Cols 2 - 98?
