Please Help: Convert 1.2.3.4 to 001.002.003.004.005

Hi can some one please help me with an issue I am facing?

I am looking for a formula or function to convert an value in a column by adding padding or something that can convert the value by adding three 0's to the left of the value.
For example if I have the following:

1.2.3.4 it should convert it to 001.002.003.004

and 1.23.2.56.1.4 should become 001.023.002.056.001.004

Please advise me on this
