    Formula for hours worked

    Hi
I am trying to work out a formula that will convert time worked into hours worked.
For example, if i input into a cell that someone worked from 2pm until 10pm then I would get a result of '6' in another cell

if anyone could help I would be very grateful

    Pardon me if I am wrong, but wouldn't 2pm to 10pm = 8 ?

But more importantly, if your start time is in A1 and end time is in B1, then something like this should work: =(B1-A1)*24

Formatted as number, with however many decimal places you want.

Not sure about how do you enter the time in the cells. But I have considered two cases.

    1) If you just put the whole string "someone worked from 2pm until 10pm" in one cell A1, try this......

    2) If you put the starting time (2:00 PM) in cell A1 and end time (10:00 PM) in cell B1, try this........

    Hope this helps.

Enter the start and end time in different columns and use Excel recognizable times and formats like h:mm, h:mm:yy AM/PM, dd:mm:yyyy h:mm etc. This will make calculation much easier. For the total hours use [h]:mm

With the start time in column B and the End time in column C you could have
    Formula: copy to clipboard

    formatted as [h]:mm
