Need help calculating time formulas to make cd archive

    Hey guys,
I am pulling my hair out trying to figure this stuff out....arrrrr!!! I am working on a cd archive of voice recordings, some several hours long.....need to enter the songs on a spreadsheet to help my head......
I need a way to calculate start and end times on cd's--I need to input a start time of 1st song, subtract the 1st song from total cd burn time, then figure
what time to start 2nd burn time for 2nd song, how to calculate end time, and so on, and so on......this is giving me a headache!!!!!!!!!

Time formulas mess with my brain....way too confusing!!!! Anybody dare to help me out?????

With Total Burn time in A1
    With Song Lengths in B2:B15
In C2, Length remaining =$A$1-SUM($B$2:B2) copied down

If that is not what you are looking for, perhaps if you uploaded an example spreadsheet (Go advanced>Manage Attachments)

You might want to consider something like a program for burning disks that often includes a utility to provide track data. Another possibility is to use Windows Media Player and create playlists (which you can archive) that has the name of the track, its length etc and allows you to burn a CD or DVD of the compilation without you having to calculate what will or will not fit on the disk.

You might find a program such as Audacity http://audacity.sourceforge.net/about/features useful in creating your audio CD/DVD. It is a sound editor and one is very useful to edit out pops and crackles in recordings and to "normalize" sound across many tracks. This is necessary if you want something that is comfortable to listen to without having to reach for the volume controls for each track.

Another program that I found to be very useful was CD Wave http://softadvice.informer.com/Cd_Wa...Windows_7.html It does pretty much what Audacity does but I liked it more just because I liked the way it worked.

After editing your sound tracks with an editor, burn the tracks to disk making sure that you choose AUDIO as the disk type otherwise you will end up with a data recording that may not play properly in anything other than your computer whereas an audio recording will play back in any device that takes audio disks.

    Good luck.
