Excel 2007 counting across rows to the next blank cell

    Hi There,

I'm looking at writing a formula to count the number of days worked since an employees last day off (results to appear in E7)

From how my spreadsheet is designed, I'm needing to count the number of start/finish cells in Row 7 (F7:G7,J7:K7, and so on) until I get to a blank start/finish cell (and then I'm assuming I'll need to divide by 2 at the end of the formula to get my total number of days) I then need to start counting again once the spreadsheet is update till the next blank cell.

Is this possible? I'm only recently delving into the more complicate formula so any advice/suggestions would be appreciated

    Hi chrisxb2

Thanks for the start....so I get this takes me to the next empty cell so I now need it to count how many days have been worked before this empty cell is reached and display the results?

I'm having a play around with VBA while referring to Books and Youtube videos so hopefully I get there soon!

    Thanks Again

    Hi kvsrinivasamurthy

Thanks for helping me out with your formula - However I'm not quite sure if the formula works out what I need it to - The current total in E7 is 33 which is the Combined Total days worked, but I need it to count until the first blank day and then start again and not keep adding up, so I should have had 3 different answers in E7 (the first being 7, then 21, then the final answer being 5 as this is the total days worked since the last blank DV7:DW7). Then if I was to continue entering data the most recent answer of 5 would be overwritten with the new total.

    Does this make sense?

    Thanks again!
