Need formula to determine recommended business hours

    Hello,

I run a small business. My point of sale system will export an Excel file that reports the time of day for each sale, sorted by day of the year.

I would like to create a formula that returns the number of sales for each hour of the day summed for each day of the week. In other words how many sales do I have on all Mondays between 9am and 10am, 10am and 11am etc. And the same for Tuesdays, Wednesdays, etc.

I would like to use this info to establish what hours I should be open each day of the week.

I've experimented with a number of formulas using "INDIRECT", "SUMPRODUCT", "ROW", and "COUNTIF" but cannot seem to make it work.

All help would be sincerely appreciated.

Hi bswails and welcome to the forum

I would recommend to use PivotTable feature in Excel.
