    SUMIF formula

    Hi all.

I have a list of medial conditions in col G. I have the number of days off due to that indecnet in col J.

Each row is a different incident.

The sheet is sorted by location (i.e. location 1 is top of the sheet, then location 2 etc etc).

    There are 12 locations.

I have a formula such as this =SUMIF($G$4:$G$14,"Blood_disorder",$J$4:$J$14)

This is looking up the medical condition in the quote marks, seeing if it is a reason for absence for that location (hence only G4:14 in this example) and if it is counting the days off due to this condition (J4:J14).

There are 26 medical conditions such as "blood_disorder". In order to work out the number of days lost per condition per location i have to replace the "blood_disorder" with another condition (such as “Infection”).

So, my question; is there any way I could replace the name in quote marks with something that I could just copy down. Is below, where "O2" is the name of the condition in my results table. i.e. “Infection”. (not that the below works).

    =SUMIF($G$4:$G$14,"O2",$J$4:$J$14)

does the above make any sense?

    Re: SUMIF formula

Create table for all criteria you like and use reference (but without quotations. Quotatiions means text, and without quotations is reference):

    Formula: copy to clipboard
