    aaaarrrgh!! Calculating performance appraisal formulas

OK, here goes. I'm trying to find a formula to calculate performance appraisal raises. Each appraisal has different areas of performance to be graded that is graded 1-5. Here's an example. In the area of customer experience, that is comprised of 35%, so if he/she is graded a 3 out of 5 in the area of customer experience and I enter 3 in the cell, then what is the formula to calculate that score. So the answer would be 3=21% out 35% for customer experience.

I hope this makes sense to someone. HELP!!

In words, it is the weight (35%) divided by the maximum score (5) then multiplied by the actual score, or as a formula (with the value 3 entered into A1):

    =A1*35%/5

    Hope this helps.

I get what you're saying but I just can't picture it in my head. Talk about a brain fart. It's right there and it's not totally clicking. There are 3 columns; a1, b1, and c1. The total percentage for that job function in a1, the manager needs to enter 1 thru 5, in b1, the final percentage calculated in c1 as a result of the formula in b1.

In that case, put this formula in C1:

    =A1*B1/5

    Hope this helps.
