Searching for a value within an array

Hi, Can you point me at a function/VBA that will return a value when I search for an item within a range of cells. I'm not looking for VLOOKUP or similar, as I want to lookup a range such as A1:D200. I have a work planner which has dates across the top and resources down the left, and the jobs in the middle. I want to search for job 'X' within the entire planner and return a single cell reference from the first instance of the formula finding the job.
