"I am trying to break a link to a temporary file in excel and it will not go away!"
I have tried the break link function, updating link, deleting the file but nothing is working. Any suggestions?

Welcome to the forum!
What do you mean by 'link'? hyperlink? connections?

Its a link to a different file
I mean how do you create the link?
If it's via hyperlink you can right-click on the link and select [Remove Hyperlink]; else if it's via data connections you can go to the [Data] menu, click [Connections] and Remove it. Or perhaps you're referring to something else

It will be where in the past, a cell will be refering to information in another workbook. The problem is, I dont want it to link to those workbooks!
Had you tried both suggestions shown in post#4?

It's not a hyperlink or a data connection
Perhaps you could share a sample workbook so that members can take a look at it and try figure it out?
It's hard to imagine how it's 'linked'...
