Function for spliting by " . " (period)

Hello!

I want to know if this is possible that I have a macro for spliting by " . " but I want to make it more easy for the users.

I have this code ="/*TD*/ Select count(*) from DBC.tables where tablename = '" &S2&"' AND databasename = '"&R2&"';"
That takes from column R database name and from S tablename for the function, but I want to use column C and use function to take database name from there and tablename.

I hope I made my problem clear enough
